2024 Ingham Student Art Exhibit

Thank you for your interest in the Ingham Student Art Exhibit. Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center, Ingham Intermediate School District, and the Michigan Education Leadership Group host this celebration of excellence in the visual arts for young people grades K-12 and students 18+ who participate in the Young Adult SE Program.
We are only accepting electronic submissions for the 2024 exhibition. The following information describes eligibility and submission guidelines.
ELIGIBILITY AND GUIDELINES
● Schools/students within the Ingham Intermediate School District’s service area are eligible to apply.
● Students in grades K-12 and students 18+ who participate in the Young Adult SE Program.
● One (1) piece of artwork per student is allowed, with no more than 20 entries per individual school.
● Artwork must be created during the 2023 – 2024 academic school year.
● All work must be two-dimensional, suitable for framing, and may not exceed 18” in either direction.
● School-appropriate subjects are accepted (i.e., no images of weapons, drugs, gang symbols, alcohol, smoking, racial or gender slurs, etc.).
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS
February 1, 2024, 11:59 PM.
JURY PROCESS AND EXHIBITIONS
From eligible entries, a qualified juror will select up to 60 works to be professionally framed by Wheaton's Framing and Art Gallery. Framed artwork will exhibited for one year in a professional partner facility. The partner facilitates include the lobbies of the Ingham Intermediate School District in Mason, the Michigan Education Leadership Group on the West Side of Lansing, the Consumers Credit Union on the South Side of Lansing, and Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center's Student Gallery in Downtown Lansing. The jury process will take place between February 2 - 9, 2024.
NOTIFICATION
Notifications of acceptance into the exhibit will be sent by email to the student's teacher or guardian on February 16, 2024. Teachers with accepted student artwork for the exhibition will work with Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center Staff to obtain parent/guardian permission for the exhibition. Artwork without parent/guardian permission will not be exhibited.
ARTWORK DROP-OFF
Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center Education Staff will work with teachers and our parent/guardian, with accepted work, to create a plan for artwork drop-off. Artwork drop-off will take place March 1 - 2, 2024. Coordination of obtaining student work will be determined at that time.
OPENING RECEPTION
The Ingham Student Art Exhibit will be shown at the Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center from April 3 - 27, 2024, then the artwork will be taken to the three other off-site locations and held there for the year. The opening reception for the Ingham Student Art Exhibit will be held at the Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center on April 11, 2024.
CLOSING RECEPTIONS
Each location will hold a closing reception in April of 2025 where we will celebrate the students for having their artwork juried and shown for a year, following the reception the artwork will be able to be picked up and taken home that day.
